U can use them as needed or daily, as you see fit. These are extremely effective meds.
I take clonazepam daily to lessen my dizziness to manageable levels. Without clonazepam i would end up disabled. I have to take clonazepam when i go out.

I’m still not better. I’m dizzy at night too. Last night I didn’t sleep till 5am. I have 2 children to look after too. But I will
Keep trying meds as I can’t stay stuck like this. To allow change you have to make changes.

I was symptom free for about 5 years. Then another year while off the meds. I’m sure I was scared at the time but I had no other options. I can understand how distressing this must be for you. I feel it too. Anxiety comes along with the condition. Like others have said Benzos can be helpful for both anxiety and the dizziness s

One thing to consider also Ane is that many if not most of us are super med sensitive. Actually, per my Dr… the Migraine Brain is sensitive to everything. Now I know why I could never handle drinking alcohol, or even taking a children’s dose of Dramamine (meclazine)! I didn’t think there was the slightest chance that I could tolerate amitriptyline. My uncle told me he had been taking it for years for neuropathy at 10mg dose. He’s a solid 250lb man, I thought… how could I possibly take the 50mg the Dr prescribed???
I did and had little side affects and have my life back. If I can do it, if thousands here on MVertigo can do it, you can do it!!!

Yes within months of starting the meds my VM stopped. Although back then I had it episodically whereas now it’s 24/7. That certainly is the goal in this process - start meds, feel better, and get off them someday. Honestly I’m kicking myself now that I did get off the meds, though. Had one good year and now back to VM. I’m hopeful to start them again and get my life back again, too. I’m in the same boat as you, I’m trialing several meds which can have side effects. But we gotta be brave!

Same. My was 24 7 never want to be there again and now episodic. I do have Chronoc tinnitus roaring popping cracking all day and the wobbles like im aboit to have an attack bit now mostly in sleep . Ah shit. Theres no cure its all about leta see how long we can feel good for with meds. I just fear so much feeling worse and dont want to keep trying like a guinea pig oh and ear fullness ! It comes and goes no idea about food triggers as all specialists say food isnt the culprit but i have tried for yrs was better but the thunping in my ear snd all thr rest.

I wish i could be like you ong the fear consumes me!

There you go those are 2 positive things. It’s not chronic for you and it’s mostly at night. I know that doesn’t make it feel better but it could be a lot worse. With any chronic condition the best bet is symptom management with right meds. Honestly once you find that med it just becomes part of your routine you don’t even think about it anymore and won’t have side effects after being on it long term. All I can do is encourage you to keep trying. And maybe reach out for help with your anxiety.

Thats why i have the fear because 15 and 16 i didnt leave my bed i couldnt walk and tall about ptsd.

You’re not unique in your fear and I’m not unique in my recovery.
Did I ever tell you that I had my prescription for three months before I got it filled? Even then, I cut the pills into thirds! I was TERRIFIED of medication and the “what if’s”. It’s not uncommon at all for people like us to live in fear.
The only thing I regret over the past 16 months of having MAV is that I wasted those three months that I could have been healing!
If I can do it, you can do it!

Can you take meclizine/Bonine? It is better than Dramamine.

If you have ear pain now, not related to the music, you need to see an ear nose and throat doctor. An ear infection makes everything worse.
If you know your symptoms are related to your ear, ask about a steroid shot. They can give you one a month for three months to get things under control. I only needed two and felt so much better last year when I was suffering a serious setback. I did not get dizzy immediately after the shot, but some people do so they make you wait 30 minutes.
Do NOT get GENTAMYCIN though. That is no longer recommended and will make you feel terrible.
