You might also want to try one of the firm wedge pillows.

Thank you Sarah. And for the Amazon link Timeless. I’m so desperate I might even try them all! See which one works best.

That is what i did all except the wedge!

Have you ever tried sleeping on a recliner? It is much cheaper than one of those expensive hospital beds and will maintian the elevated position you are looking for.

Can’t say I have Brian. But what a novel idea. I’ll certainly give it some thought along with the ideas above. Thank you.

Hi Timeless,
I just placed my order for the dog bone pillow as I have terrible neck pain too. Thanks for the tip!

I use the neck pillow when sitting behind my neck that way my head does not feel so heavy , especially when I am sitting on the sofa with my laptop. I have to have something behind my neck when I sit…in other words there has to be a high back chair that I can put the pillow behind.

I think you will find the pillow helpful, BTW which color did you get!

Hi Timeless,
That is the exact symptom I have… my head feels so heavy that my neck just can’t hold it anymore, even in a high backed chair. I am hoping that this will allow sitting to be more tolerable and I can get out of bed a bit more…
I got the medieval blue… and you?

Thanks again…lisa

I got red…just because I am a Georgia Bulldog fan…LOL.

You know what else I got is a neck brace that I use sometimes when it feels really heavy. It seems to help a bit but the pillow has been a lifesaver.

Hey Timeless,
Just got my dogbone pillow and am sitting quite nicely in my high backed chair------------THANK YOU!

I highly recommend it to those of us with heavy heads. It really does hold you head up quite comfortably:-)

Be well,
Lisa

I got mine today as well! Haven’t used it yet though. Going to get the wedge as well soon.

Lisa,

I am so glad that it is working well for you. I would be lost without mine, it has been a lifesaver for me to be able to sit up and hold my head.

Let me know how it works out for you Brenda and I would like to know how the wedge works as I have been thinking about getting one.

I will. And I hope to get the wedge next week. Will get back to you on how I find it.

Too funny! I just got my “dog bone” too. It is great for on the couch, but I’m not sure it is the best option for a sleeping pillow for me. My neck has been kinking up though lately. Maybe once the chiropractor gets my bones back in line I’ll try it again. I do like it for reading in bed though.

I use a pillow called “Chiroflow”. It has a small pocket in the middle that you fill with water. It has done wonders for my neck pain and headaches.

Does anyone else’s head hurt when they touch the pillow? I saw this topic and thought that I’d ask. I just came back from vacation and brought my own pillow from home. The last time I was away, using the foam pillow they had at the hotel just hurt too much to lay my head on it.
Also, how about waking up with numb arms or fingers? Does anybody else experience this?

I do not have a problem with my head hurting but I do wake almost everyday with numbness in my arms and fingers, also in my leg and toes.

I always bring my own pillows with me if I will be sleeping anywhere other than home, but I have done this as long as I can remember. I never sleep good on any other pillows. Most mornings I also wake up with tingling arms and fingers.

Another good choice little softer to put under neck or head at night also works well behind neck sitting in chair.

Great topic and suggestions on pillows! Never saw that bone pillow before …will definitely check that out for my neck pain.

Someone above mentioned a waterbased pillow. I’ve used one of these for years and they are wonderful. Here is the Amazon link. I think they are also sold at Bed Bath & Beyond stores in the U.S.
