Hi, i was prescribed pitzotifen by Dr S approx 3 months ago. He advised me to increase the meds every 7 days if there were further exacerbations of symptoms. He didnt however advise what the maximum dose was. I increased the meds every 7 days until I hit 5mg per day and then decided to email his secretary to ask what the maximum dose is. She replied (after 2 email reminders approx 3 weeks later) telling me that I was taking far too much and the maximum dose is 3mg. I felt so fed up as I still have symptoms but obviously I need to decrease the meds. I just wondered if anyone could advise in what increments I need to decrease and over what period of time as im guessing that if I suddenly decrease to 3mg I may get some unwanted side effects.
I was on 2.5 daily and after 3 months quickly stopped over a period of 5 days - biggest mistake I ever did! Had the most crucial headaches for months…take it slow and easy is my advise…
