Caloric test with needle pain

I have had vertigo issues for a very long time. Recently I had a caloric test. I ended up with severe vertigo for about 25 minutes. Because of this reaction, she strongly recommended we stop the test. Also, I had intermittent needle pain in the ear that the audiologist tested with cool air. The needle pain lasted for about 5 days. When the ear hurt, I had severe vertigo issues.
Has anyone ever heard of this type of reaction to the caloric test. I was originally supposed to see the doc on June 2 but that was changed to June 12 and is now changed to June 20.
Any input is appreciated.
